julie bioJulie Lichtenberg, cultural activist, theater and visual artist, has worked as a teacher, performer, and director, incorporating visual art and physical theater since 1980. In 1995, she co-founded BOOM!theater with Elsa Menendez, a multi-media performance workshop based in a men’s medium-security prison in Connecticut.  In 2000,  Lichtenberg co-founded The Performance Project at the Hampshire Jail with Amie Dowling. In 2008 she initiated First Generation and has collaborated with First Gen ensembles to create BAKOK, Ripple Effect, Fo n’ ale (we must go), and tenderness.
